I love this rug! It reminds me of the rag rugs my mother used to make 60+ years ago. I bought 2 for my kitchen and they look great. I think I will buy another color for my bathroom. Pay particular attention when choosing a color. The color on the fringe thread will predominate. In this rug, the overall color in real life looks more turquoise/light blue than the medium blue I was thinking of. But when I looked at the photos, they accurately portrayed the color I received. So, no complaints. The rug will come rolled, wrapped tightly in heavy plastic. It will take at least 5 minutes to carefully cut it out of it's plastic cocoon. And, you can't beat the price. About 5 years ago I went to a high end craft fair here in New Mexico and an artisan made rag rug this size would sell for about $250+! Overall, I am very happy. One big issue I have seen debated in various rag rug reviews is whether these rugs are machine washable. The short answer is yes! I just washed my 2 "blue" rag rugs using just a little liquid detergent and using the delicate wash and dry cycles. I pulled them out before they were completely dry and laid them on bath towels to finish air drying on my guest bed. They came out fine, EXCEPT some of the ends where each rag ends and another starts have popped up. See attached photo of blue rug with popups. On my 4' long rugs, there are maybe 20 or so popups on each. The cross threads just can't hold every piece perfectly in place. The solution? Just get an instrument like a chop stick or something a little pointy and push the popped up ends down towards the back of the rug. The rug is good to go for another cycle. In short, you won't find a more interesting and functional rug than these rag rugs. And definitely not at these prices. You just have to be aware of the some of the realities.
The SAFAVIEH Handmade Vistiana Flatweave Cotton Rug that I purchased is true to the picture on the site and the colors are vibrant and the rug is easy to keep clean and maintain.
This is a beautiful rug, but it is considerably darker than you might think; it has quite a bit of black in it. My photo doesn't show quite how dark it is. The photos online make it seem like there is more red in it that there is in mine, whichI would have liked, but they vary. Also, it didn't fade when I washed it in my home washing machine.
Love the Safavieh rag rugs...this was my 8th white rag rug and they don’t disappoint...perfect for shabby chic decor!
This rug is a nice handmade rug. It is blue with stripes like most hand made rag rugs are. It really made our new furniture look nice and cozy. I was surprised how fast they shipped and what a good price it was. I purchased three and they are gorgeous!!
Like the title says, this is a beautiful rug but it is not made fir high traffic. I have it in my living room and while it pulls the room together, it has started to unravel and loose "rags" in places. Yes, this is a rag rug. Hopefully stitching it back together will work, otherwise it's being moved to a less trafficked room.
Purchased for our vintage Airstream camper. I'm hopeful that they hold up to 'glamping' and that they can be washed when needed. As a weaver myself I can appreciate the work needed to make a rag rug. These are nicely made and very pretty.
I bought this Safavieh Hand Woven Rag Rug for my entryway and it’s perfect. The colors look so much more vibrant in person. It’s just the right length and it lays flat with no edges rolling up. I would definitely recommend this to anyone.
I love it! It's soft, soft, soft in look as well as in feel. It sets the stage for all of the softness that I want to create in this bedroom. The colors (which don't display very well in my crummy photo) are just right---a mix of blues, teals, and a teensy touch of pink. I'm so glad I bought this! A rug this size, this price, and in a natural material is a steal!
The Safavieh Hand-Woven Rag Rug Aqua/ Multi Cotton Rug (2'3 x 8') is such a great purchase for my entry way. I love how I can still see the beautify tile but allow the debris from the yard to not get tracked through the house. Best part is that the rug is washable!
very nice rag rug - multicolored rag weft fabrics with blue cotton weft. 2 inch fringe on short ends. Nice medium weight - did not use a pad for the rug. no odors. very pleased with purchase.
I am all about Safavieh rag / flatweave rugs. I have several in my house. I purchased this one for a walk-in closet area. Combined with a high-quality, non-slip felt rug pad, the rug is soft underfoot but low enough to leave plenty of clearance for the doors to swing over it. The overall look is neutral yet the patterns woven in give it a modern, abstract look.
I bought this along with 2 other sizes of the same type of run for a large room for my 85 year old father. He chose a bright shade of blue for the walls, and I thought these rugs would work well. They do! They are informal, cheery, and just the right thing in terms of helping to define the 3 areas of the room - sleeping, working, and t.v. watching. The one that gets the most wear, though, does end up with "rag" ends poking up, which then attract the 2 kitties to play with them and make them more pronounced. So I do need to keep a fairly constant eye on those ends popping up so that I can tuck them back in before they attract attention from the cats. Otherwise, I am very pleased with the quality for the price, the mix of colors, and the general feel of them. One that is not anchored under furniture has an added backing underneath, but the other two do not. They are all wearing well with or without backing, and they are comfortable for walking or sitting, even though they aren't exactly thick pile. I think this was a great match for what I wanted, and I'm very pleased with the purchase, price, and quality. I'd certainly consider buying them again (or recommending them) if there was another good match with need.
I really like to look of the rug, it is exactly as pictured. For the size and quality, I think it's a great buy. However, this is our 4th Safavieh rug we've purchased from Great Offer Stock, and it has an overwhelming chemical smell we've never experienced before. I understand "off-gassing" and rugs need to air out, but this one was concerning how overpowering the smell was. I let it sit for 2 days in a spare bedroom and it smelled up the entire second story of my home. I removed it to let it air out in the garage and the smell lingered in my home for days. After researching, I came across some pretty scary articles on other countries who lack the chemical regulations we do. This rug is woven and cotton, so I knew it wasn't a "glue backing". I'm guessing perhaps a flame retardant spray or something similar would be causing the smell. My advice, do your research and ask questions. Many of the articles supported cancer causing agents are used on these rugs in other countries. If you do buy this rug, be prepared to let it air out outside. I'm also considering steam cleaning as my infant will be crawling on it soon.
Can't get enough of these rag rugs. They are perfect for a casual look.
I love the quality of Safavieh rugs and this one is no different. The colors are soft, muted and sublime while the quality of the pile is awesome..great on my bare feet. Would buy again.
The Safavieh Hand woven rag rug collection in blue-multi cotton was purchased for several rooms of our home to unify spaces. Aside from the rugs not being made in China, I liked the variety of sizes. However, the threading is slightly different in color on most rugs which is a big disappointment. They range from turquoise to sea foam green despite all being from the same alleged collection. Hopefully it will not be as noticeable to guests as it is to us. Reasonably priced which is why we didn’t return the whole lot - thus far anyway.
I love Safavieh rag rugs. Have so many around my house. Great quality and can’t beat the price. Just as pictured.
All of the Safavieh hand-woven rag rugs (1-2'3x"x 8', 2-2'3 x 3' and 1-4' oval)I have purchased are fantastic. The color I chose was the ivory multi. Choosing the multi will give me the opportunity to use the rug pretty much in any and every room regardless of the other colors within the space it is placed. A detail that was important to me was durability. I have 2 dogs (Wire Fox Terrier) that are constantly running back and forth through the house and over the rugs. I would recommend placing a rug grip under the rug for this reason. Another reason: throw/area rugs can be hazardous for those of us that are aging. The grip helps to keep them secure for both human and animal! I will without question be back to purchase more rag rugs!
I ordered this odd size, thinking the cotton rugs would be more manageable to launder myself, since the lighter color suggested they might show dirt. Yes, they are more launderable, in large capacity cold water but no, they show dirt less than a dark brown seagrass rug I use. The two rugs lie together so well that I didn't even stitch them together, as some hackers have suggested. They are soft underfoot and lie flat on pads also purchased from Great Offer Stock (love the thick felt ones that are easy to trim to fit). At the end of one rug, two bits of woven fabric were pulled up at the outset. I liked the rugs so much that I tucked them in and forgot about it, although that might not work for you. I couldn't be more pleased. I am renting and did not want to have my very pre-war, worn hardwood floors refinished AGAIN... These can move with us when we move in a couple of years -- and cost a lot less than having floors refinished. I would buy these or similar rugs again and would recommend them highly.
