Safavieh Hand-hooked Bumblebee Black Wool Rug

The first rug was defective, with some missing loops and had an odd "wet" feel to the backing. Great Offer Stock took it back with no questions and sent out a replacement before they received the defective rug. This rug was inexpensive and the quality is good for the price. The colors are a little different than the picture but that is always the case. We are very happy with the rug. the pattern is distinctive, and we would order it again.

The bumblebee rug really takes my tiny city apartment from utilitarian to something like shabby chic, English country, or grandma's attic. I just sets the tone and makes all my other items fit in. I got the 6 by 9 foot rug, although a 9 x 12 foot would have fit perfectly wall to wall in my carpeted area of my efficiency. It didn't need a pad because the new carpet and padding in the apartment served that purpose. The colors are just as depicted, with a heavy cream or beige color and a tan color making the bees, a black background, and a light and medium sage green for the leaves. The flowers have the same colors as the bees and the checkerboard border has the same greens as the leaves. This really is a great size for a living room conversation group or a small table area. It would serve well at the end of a bed perpendicular to the length of the bed or in front of a trundle bed allowing room for chairs or a desk as well. As for quality, I paid only $*** for this rug that is listed as a $*** rug. Compared to what I could get in a cheap synthetic for the same price, it's really a steal. Sometimes people complain about this type of rug "shedding," and this does. After about a week, there will be a buildup of about a handful of dark grey looking fibers that appear in your vacuum bag. Not sure if this is a mix of all the colors or just dark gray fibers that come out, but that's all it is. It's no big deal. I don't notice any difference in the rug itself. I did make two spills on the rug and got them up right away. I dabbed each with towels and then because each item was acidic (buttermilk and a salad dressing with fresh lemon juice), I sprinkled and tapped in baking soda to neutralize the acid, allowed to dry, and vacuumed. Please note that where I spilled the buttermilk, it appeared that a couple of yarns had worked loose, perhaps due to the moisture? Not sure. I tucked them back in with the tip of my finger and they have stayed. Wondered if there is some kind of adhesive helping them stay normally but didn't see any evidence of that. I usually use a vacuum that does not have a brush but sometimes use one with a brush to get it deeply clean. If you vacuum regularly without a brush, you'll be able to get the surface debris (your hair, crumbs, soil) without letting it get down under the carpet yarns. I live alone and remove my shoes when I enter my apartment. I work from home so this carpet does get traffic from my bare feet, socks, and slippers only. Because wool rugs have to be handled more delicately than synthetic rugs, this might not be the best rug for someone with heavy foot traffic, big dogs, lots of dirty shoes, etc. I would think that someone with allergies who tracked in a lot of animal and outdoor materials might have issues for this reason. I have allergy problems but don't really track much if anything inside and use an air cleaner, so this is not an issue for me. The rug is very neatly trimmed on the edges with the fabric tape that shows only underneat, and the backing looks sturdy and neat. I like that it has a traditional yet whimsical look to it, with neutral colors while not being boring or predictable. I think the design would work for family spaces as well as for traditionally feminine spaces. I would not use it for wet or dirty places like bathrooms, doorways, or the kitchen, although some people do use this type of run in the smaller versions in the kitchen. I'm delighted with this rug and recommend it, especially for the price which appears to be the best price.

After having received 3 other rugs that I was very happy with, I was sorely disappointed in this one. Although a different material and thickness, this rug was extremely poorly cut along the 8' edges, clearly noticiable for all to see. The colors are more muted. It's not worth the trouble of sending it back, so I'll live with it. But I won't be buying anything else from this website.

Found this rug on Great Offer Stock at a really great price. Had been following this rug on several other sites but Great Offer Stock beat their prices by over 1/2. This is out second Safavieh rug and they are very well made, wool and the colors are true to the representation.

Excellent Quality however the squares in the checkered border are pale green, green and black. The squares appear to be ivory in the picture, they are not.

Excellent quality.....heavy with crisp colors. the bees are aprox 4" in width on the 9x12 size rug. I highly recommend this ruq.....cute and well made! I would buy it again.
