For the price, and for our need of finding a large, attractive rug for our dining room that would be less attractive to our four black cats, this was a find! It looks and lays down like a much more expensive rug. It does not attract or show cat fur and the cats don't seem to want to scratch it at all -- job number one given our experience with our prior rug in this spot. Regardless of its cat-liveability qualities, it also is exactly the bold style but in subtle colors I was looking for in our dining room. It is a nice contrast to our cherry Prairie-style dining room furniture, light oak floor and white shoji screens -- our former rug really just blended into the floor and table-- this one brings a lot more energy to the room and shows off the detail of the furniture as well. I had considered a black/white zebra rug in this spot but was right to think that would be too bold -- and I had looked at rugs that cost 10x more than this one because they were made in wool, when I wanted a cheaper synthetic fiber. All in all, this ended up being the perfect color, pattern, size, fabric and durability for our needs -- and the price was lower than I ever thought possible! It is a bit scratchy underfoot, but I'm getting used to it and it is a small compromise given its cat-deterrent properties but high style, coverage and value. My husband was not a fan at first but has now begun to appreciate the style and benefits -- and certainly at the great price.
